THE MOOG U.S. TOUR WITH THE PHOTO ATLAS SUPPORTING “RAZZMATAZZ ORFEUM”
“Good luck getting this pop gem from The Moog out of your head.”
-Morgan Wells, ESQUIRE
New York, NY – Hungary quintet THE MOOG are finally crossing the pond for a full U.S. tour in support of their sophomore release Razzmatazz Orfeum, with fellow post-punk dance outfit The Photo Atlas. The boys from Budapest kick off in LA on April 28th, with stops in major cities across the country including San Francisco, Houston, Atlanta, NYC, Boston and Chicago before ending in Denver.
The Moog blend 60s garage, art-rock and catchy pop with an enigmatic stage show. Led by baritone-voiced singer Tonyo Szabo, THE MOOG are a combination of both alternative and pop influences made unique by the band’s Eastern European sound.

The recent single “When I See You” and its video, by director Anthony Garth (who shot the White Stripes’ clips for “We Are Going To Be Friends” and “Hotel Yorba”) is currently receiving air-play at all major US music video outlets, including FUSE and MTV (a favorite at Subterranean).

Formed in Budapest in 2004 by then-teenagers Tonyo Szabo (vocals), Adi Bajor (guitar) and Gergo Dorozsmai (drums), and later joined by Csaba Szabo (bass) and Miguel Gyorgy (second guitar), THE MOOG have been compared to such modern-day chart-toppers as The Strokes and The Hives; but their influences run deep and wide: The Beatles, David Bowie, The Sonics, The Smiths, Ramones, Roxy Music and Bauhaus are all responsible for inspiring the band’s sound.
Though at first criticized by the old establishment in their native country, THE MOOG are pioneers to their homeland rock brethren by being the first popular Hungarian band to sing in English and tour Western Europe and the U.S. Soviet rule prevented previous generations from being exposed to the artists that influenced the young quintet, but The Moog members were exposed to MTV and the western alternative bands on the network, such as Nirvana, Sonic Youth and Blur. This eye opening experience led the band to reach back to classic American and British 60s and 70s rock and punk. The Moog found their well-hidden muse and the rest, as they say, is history.
“This worldwide album hits so many perfect hooks that you are left spinning.”
- The Big Take Over
“With Buzzcocks-sounding intros and fuzzy pop bodies… they have a F*cking star with a capital F in lead singer Tonyo, who struts, preens, and confronts with the best of them.”
- Tiny Mix Tapes

Whether front-woman Kelly Irene Corson is singing about tough childhood memories, a kidnapping or abusive adult relationships, THE ART OF SHOOTING “transform formative and sometimes painful life experiences into melodramatic indie rock songs” (Alana Harper, WNYC Music Hub).
The Brooklyn quartet release their debut full-length Traveling Show on Tues, April 27th and will honor the occasion with a performance at Piano’s that evening at 9PM. Also performing are Pink Noise, BRONZE (ex detachment kit) and KC Quilty.
“What separates The Art of Shooting from its peers is the band’s gauzy way of exploring new ground, being playful and biting one minute, and languorous and twee, the next.”
- Gregory Robson, Absolute Punk
“Art Of Shooting have produced a pop song-slick record with aggressive, dark melodies that dare the listener to enjoy each track as one may enjoy the blades thrown at a living target in a knife thrower’s act.”
- Lora Grillo, StereoactiveNYC
“”On ‘Traveling Show’… Corson channels her Tanya Donelly as a wickedly operatic Siouxsie or Amanda Palmer.”
- Tina Benitez, NY Press
“The beauty of this release is behind the blatant honesty and unique spirit each note provides. The Art of Shooting is a name to remember.”
- Bryon Turcotte, JUSTPRESSPLAY (9/10)
“These dynamic tuned, jerky rhythmed, acerbic tongued, goth tinged, two girl/one boy
Brooklyn art punks might’ve fit right in on Rough Trade in 1980, or opening for Siouxsie a few years later.”
- Village Voice
“shoegaze punks”
- Kirk Miller, Metromix
“Eerie, unearthly melodies promise to haunt your dreams.”
- CMJ
“Simultaneously accessible and unique.”
- BabySue Music Review
“Traveling Show becomes a wonderful haunted house to explore your own personal struggles, and you will eventually lose yourself amongst its’ walls.”
- Patrick Lighthall, Static Multimedia
“Singer/guitarist KELLY CORSON can go from a whisper to a scream at a moment’s notice.”
- The Big Takeover

DEARLY BELOVED RELEASE U.S. DEBUT MAKE IT BLEED
FREE DOWNLOAD OF FIRST SINGLE “MOVE ON ”

New York, NY – Toronto’s Dearly Beloved release their U.S. debut Make It Bleed TODAY on Zoë/Rounder Records. Their hometown publication EXCLAIM! MAG has already championed the album.
“With a sound that simultaneously gives nods to Higgins’ Can-Rock past with Change Of Heart and Rocket Science, and the current alt-rock auteurism professed by Jack White and Josh Homme, ‘Make It Bleed’ firmly captures all of Dearly Beloved’s initial promise.”
- Jason Schneider, EXCLAIM! Mag

Dearly Beloved began in 2006 when Rob Higgins, songwriter-musician-producer-radio host, and a couple of like-minded friends, pooled their talents. Originally an outlet for the negative energy stemming from his father’s passing, the music eminently started to blossom once Higgins began collaborating among others with deep roots in the Toronto rock community.
Dearly Beloved forge ahead musically and will be releasing new, individual tracks (both regularly & irregularly) with different producers through Rounder in the coming months. First up will be “Kentucky,” a track produced by Broken Social Scene’s Brendan Canning. Keep an eye out for that track to be released soon.
Continuing with his fountain of creativity, Higgins begins his ‘desert sessions’ in May at David Catching’s (Eagles Of Death Metal) studio near Joshua Tree outside of LA. Brendan McGuire (Sloan) will be engineering the recordings in this desert locale where Higgins first found solace and experienced a spiritual and creative awakening following his father’s passing.
Dearly Beloved is Rob Higgins, Niva Chow and Gavin Maguire and Make It Bleed is out TODAY on Zoë/Rounder Records

“The grit of old school punk, the guitars of the new rock revival and a touch of the Velvet Underground. A worthy addition to the indie scenester’s collection.”
